Is there any true way of getting rid of pests? Is there any maintenance on keeping them away?

  1. I don't think there is an effective way of getting rid of pests. Pests are the cons of planting/harvesting crops. Pests are things that you can't get rid of. However, there are many things growers can do to keep them away such as having good gardening practices and getting rid of damaged leaves and etc because pests tend to be attracted to them. Also you can cover certain plants to protect them from pests and regularly check the underside of leaves where pests can be found.

    1. Pests are annoying for plants and they can cause a major problem for croppers and farmers. I do believe there are substances that can help control the pest but they will come back. I believe that pest are a constant headache for farmers as well as domesticated plants.

  2. I do not believe that there is a true mainteance of getting rid of pests. Often times the pesticides that we use are only intended to be used as maintenace. They maw work for long period of time but eventually the problem will reoccur. When this happedn you must always try to use aonther method or even try a different pesticide. From studying Biology I understand tht some pest began to mutate and change thier DNA. When this occurs their DNA has adjusted to the pesticide and you must then began using another pesticide because thier DNA has adjusted to that particular brand. In my opinion there is not a true maintenance for pests

    1. There isn't a completely true way of maintenance to get rid of pests. There are reduction methods such as pesticides and setting traps, but you cannot really maintain another organism's niche and living habits.

  3. its not as much maintenance to getting rid of pest because pest can wipe out a whole crop within weeks. Pest can be adapted to the pest control your using and it can not harm most pest if used. In my way of thinking it shouldn't be any maintenance with pest. - Cameron Scott p.6th

  4. Yes, even for those eco friendly growers, natural pesticides, even cultural control, there is tons of ways.

  5. I don't believe that there is any true way to get rid of pests. We as growers must learn to accept that we must co-exist with other organisms on this planet. There are ways to reduce the numbers, but they won't completely go away.

  6. i don't think there is a clear way. I think there are ways to keep pests levels down but a true way to eliminate pests is hard to do. There are a ton of chemicals and other dangerous thing to kill pests but it will harm plants and crops as well.

  8. There is no way to get rid of pest. We only have pesticides to control them but what's the point its nature and pest will always exist.

  11. They'll never truly be a way of getting rid of pests completely, its just something that we'll have to deal with and try to control.

    1. Agree, even if a breakthrough were to happen it would only be temporary since pest can overcome it in time.

  15. I don't think that there is a permanent way to get rid of pest. Some species of pest have no control so there is no way to get rid of them. I think it does involve maintenance if there is a way to ride yourself a certain pest. You have to keep up what your doing in order to keep the pest away.
